About
Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do.
What this blog is
Welcome to The Bioethical Compass, my blog about biomedical ethics, where I discuss important issues at the intersection of medicine, science, and ethics. Through this blog, I hope to share my insights and perspectives on a wide range of topics related to biomedical ethics.
My goal is to promote informed and thoughtful discussion about these important issues, and to provide a space where readers can engage with and learn from each other.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to exploring these important issues together.
The 4 cardinal directions
I believe ethical considerations are an essential part of modern healthcare. The 4 pillars (or cardinal directions, as I like to think of them) of medical ethics are respect for autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. A deeper understanding of these ideas can help us make better decisions about how to promote health and well-being for all.
What this blog will cover
I cover a wide range of topics, from the ethics of genetic testing and personalized medicine to end-of-life care and the use of emerging technologies in healthcare. My goal is to promote critical thinking about these complex issues, while also providing practical insights for clinicians, researchers, and patients.
I invite you to join the conversation and explore the fascinating world of biomedical ethics with me.
Who I Am
Hi there, I'm Adamya.
I'm a pre-medical student at Washington University in St. Louis who is passionate about exploring the ethical issues that arise in the field of healthcare. As a student of biology and philosophy, I am fascinated by the complex interplay between science and ethics, and love exploring the ethical dilemmas that arise in the field of healthcare. I believe a deeper understanding of these issues is essential for anyone who wants to make a positive impact in the world of medicine.
I'm broadly interested in neurology and ophthalmology. In my free time, I play tennis, golf, and the acoustic guitar.
